I stumbled onto this by accident, and it was surprisingly fun. Even tho it sometimes was very unbalanced, that made it just more fun. In the end, I had a tower of gazillion totems, which insta won the last few fights. It did get a little laggy in the end, but very polished, I liked it!!
Encountered an issue wherein the opponent doesn't lose for not having enough piece power to capture your zone, but you can still lose for the same reason. For some reason, destroying every piece that isn't yours on the board lets you win though... I don't think this is a bug, just annoying that you can lose for a reason that your opponent cannot lose for
good point.
This game was originally designed to encourage taking over areas rather than destroying.
But, destroying pieces seems more fun. I'll remove that failure condition in the next update
It me again. Been thinking about a lot. Idea, a way to add new pieces to the board. That encourages taking over areas since it becomes the only real way to end a match. Also forsight, newly spawned pieces don't add to your money. That's the reason I destroyed everything most of the time, letting pieces spawned during the round would result in people never leaving the first game in order to obtain infinite cash.
Thanks for still following the game. In fact that's what I thought during ludumdare. But at the end of the jam there was a bug in the enemy AI system and I didn't have time to deal with it causing me to simplify a lot of things.
I took a long break. and planning to get back into this project.
If I still want to keep the rule of occupied areas. I would put an invincible enemy piece on board like about after 20 turns that slowly moves towards your territory, destroying everything in its way. (Forcing the player to occupy the territory quickly to end the game)
This was so fun! For a while I was like "this is so easy, especially with my shotgun king, I can't lose!" and then I started facing additional opponents...
The AI isn't great, which I'm assuming inspired adding additional enemies to play against, but honestly the unpredictability of the AI was a positive in the long run. Can I put a piece somewhere it can be attacked to set myself up next turn and not get jumped? Probably, but it's still a big risk!
Also the animation on this was GREAT, and I loved the variety of pieces!

Game was great until a bomb chain reaction from a hedgehog froze the game.
Thanks for the feedback.
I've finally located and resolved the issue based on a series of related crash reports.
Adore this game, been playing a lot of the entires to the jam and this is my favorite by far! Its extremely polished for the time limit, you should be very proud.
I played through all of it! It was really fun, but near the end, it began to be really laggy with a lot of visual errors. (I almost couldn't finish because of it.)
Fun game and nice idea. The cursor was also nice! Well done!
